The Spiritual Practice of Dakshina

In all spiritual traditions, giving is considered an essential spiritual practice. In the Siddha Yoga tradition, the practice of offering to our spiritual path from our own wealth or earnings is called dakshina. Through this offering of love, we acknowledge the transforming power of the Guru's grace and teachings in our lives. We also express our desire to uplift humanity by helping to continue to make these teachings available.

We offer dakshina out of love, to that which we love. Through the practice of dakshina, we consciously acknowledge and strengthen our commitment to our spiritual path.

Like hundreds of other Siddha Yoga® meditation centers around the world, SYMC in Philadelphia is fully self-supported. Our mission is to offer the teachings of Siddha Yoga® meditation and the gift of shaktipat,or spiritual awakening, to the people of the Delaware Valley.

You are invited to offer dakshina at the Philadelphia Siddha Yoga Meditation Center in any of the following ways:

  • Through Our Automatic Pledge Program
We are pleased to offer this pledge program to make easy, automatic monthly dakshina offerings from a checking account, savings account or credit card. Automatic pledges are a tremendous help to the Center, as they allow the Center to develop budgets accurately. SYDA guidelines call for centers to cover their rent through monthly pledges rather than other forms of dakshina.

To enroll, please use our Automatic Pledge Form, which is available in pdf format. You may mail the form to the Center or place it in the dakshina box outside the meditation hall.
  • By Mail
You may simply mail your check or money order (no cash, please) to:
    SYMC in Philadelphia
    228 Krams Ave
    Philadelphia, PA 19127
  • At The Center
Outside the meditation hall is a dakshina table. Simply fill out a dakshina card if you wish, so that your donation may be acknowledged, and drop your envelope in the box.

Thank You for any dakshina offering you choose to make. SYMC Philadelphia has been offering the practices of Siddha Yoga meditation in our region for over 25 years, thanks to your generous support.

We invite you to learn more about the sacred spiritual practice of dakshina at the Global Siddha Yoga Website.

You are also welcome to help support the Siddha Yoga Global Mission by offering dakshina at the Global Siddha Yoga Website.
